Austin’s Story | North Carolina

I don’t know my biological father, nor did my mother. What time I spent with my mother was spent moving from place to place. Yet, I still loved my mother more than any other person. Unfortunately she died when I was 11.
The following year my great grandmother that I would always stay with after school died. Then, the only father figure I had, my great grandfather died the year after.  My sadness grew into bitterness and anger. Many times I contemplated ending my life as life seemed to only get worse. Fortunately, I had a grandmother that’s always been there to help when life seemed hopeless.
Many behind the scenes were praying for me, as I found out later. Through it all the Lord has kept me safe. Finally on September 26, 2008, I repented of my sins and accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. It was a Friday night around 9:00 PM. I was half way listening to a devotional and came across the verse in 2 Corinthians 5:17. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are past away; behold, all things are become new.” As I was reading I realized I was lost. I had been to church as a child and prayed for salvation, but there was never a change. I had only prayed for salvation as a child for fear of Hell, but there was no repentance. After I received salvation, I felt the burden of my anger and bitterness lifted. I became completely different from the anti-social ball of anger I was.
I have been so glad to have a Father I can count on always being there for me, no matter what life throws my way. I’ve learn even though sin and the world always fight against us I can rely on God to direct and protect. Romans 8:31 “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?”
