This is one area many parents and grandparents struggle with.
They love their children and grandchildren and often times let them slide and slide a lot…. Sometimes so much that it ends up where the kids then don’t respect them when they become teenagers and they are out of hand.
YOU CAN AVOID THIS MOST OFTEN!
IT IS CALLED PROPER DISCIPLINE:
Now, what type of discipline should you do? That is up to you to determine what is best for you and your children or grandchildren.
My Uncle David Teis wrote a great book called “Raising God’s Kids in Sin City” and he covers proper discipline in that book. I encourage you to grab a copy off of Amazon!
But look what the Bible says about a lack of discipline in the home:
Ephesians 6:1-3 "Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;). That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth."
You want your kids or grandkids to live long on the earth? Then teach them to honor you as their parent. You are their parent or guardian and God wants you to honor them!
Proverbs 23:13 "Withhold not correction from the child: for if you beat him with the rod, he shall not die."
The Bible instructs us to properly and lovingly correct our children!
Proverbs 29:15 "The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame."
The Bible also tells us that disciplining our children gives them wisdom and they will have a much better chance to succeed in life and not bring you are a parent or grandparent to shame!
These three things alone are enough for us to want to discipline our children!
They need it!
We need to do it! No matter how hard it is!
