Find Peace and Rest In God

It is no secret that your position is often a stressful one.

That is the stigma that often comes with it.

But it doesn’t always have to be this way!

What is stressing you out currently?

Tell me some things that stress people out.

Many individuals and families today are running on stress.

In Philippians 4 Paul diagnoses the problem here and gives us a Prescription for dealing with our stress.

STRESS IS A POISON!!

In Philippians 4:4-9 we find "A Prescription for PEACE"

"Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.”

Paul knew that stress was not healthy.

So he says ok I get what you are dealing with but here are some ways to work through it!

Today let’s look at these five antidotes in the Prescription for the poison of stress:

HOW?

1. Clamp onto Joy – vs 4

Rejoicing in the Lord is a choice.

You get to decide either to be a stressed-out person or a person filled with joy in the calm and in the storms!

2. Calm down and be gentle – vs 5

Everybody just needs to calm down today! Most of us are running around like chickens with our heads cut off!

We need to relax or take a chill pill!

3. Care Less about Everything – vs 6

God is literally telling us to care less.

That doesn’t mean He could care less. It means that because He cares and takes care of us that we don’t have to care so much.

How comforting is that!

4. Cling to Pure Thinking – vs 8

I love the end of this verse that if we live pure lives we will have peace.

It is so true if you think about it.

Think about the people in your life that don’t live pure lives. How unrestful and unpeaceful they are!

5. Continue Living For God – vs 9a

God wants us to do what He says. His ways provide peace!

Living for God provides peace!

Conclusion - vs 7 & 9

There are no negative side affects!

This will only help heal your life!

Here are the guaranteed results from this prescription:

“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. ...and the God of peace shall be with you.” ‭Philippians‬ ‭4:7, 9‬b

You will have daily:

  • Peace

  • Your heart will be kept by God

  • Your mind will be kept by God

  • The God of Peace will be with you
